Why do you need a coach?
As Bill Gates once said in a TED talk: "Everyone needs a coach." Indeed, at certain points in life, everyone needs a coach to walk alongside them, unleash their potential, and become a better version of themselves!
What does a coach do?
A coach creatively inspires others to think, recognize, learn, act, and improve; they accompany others in challenging and achieving higher goals in work and life. Coaches don't directly give advice but motivate others to independently find resources, solve problems, make plans, and achieve goals.
A coach doesn't need to know everything you do, nor do they need to be more specialized in your field. However, they are the person who gives you timely responses and feedback. Through conversation, they provide feedback that allows you to re-examine yourself. The core of coaching is the belief that "everyone is the best expert on their own problems." Therefore, coaches use precise and effective questioning to help everyone’s "inner expert" see blind spots, find answers, unleash potential, and achieve goals.
How to collaborate with a coach?
Before coaching: Think of a conversation topic in advance. It can be a problem you want to solve or a goal you want to achieve.
During coaching: The coach will listen to your concerns and use questions to help you clarify your thoughts, look inward, and see your inner passions, beliefs, fears, worries, or resources. The coach will also give you feedback to help you see blind spots, discover potential, and find answers.
After coaching: You need to actively implement your action plan and share the results with your coach. Also, prepare for the next coaching session.
